I have grown to despise e-mail, and not just because of its apparently uncontrollable junk mail problem. No, e-mail is just in general so terribly designed that I don’t understand what’s so hard for geeks to get together and work on a set of replacement standards for POP, IMAP and SMTP - X.400 anyone?
In the meantime, I’ll have to deal with receiving several hundreds of e-mail every single day, 90% of which are unsolicited. Another 9% are from mailing lists, newsletters or other non-personal and usually low-priority sources. Out of the tiny fraction of actually useful mail, only a part is usually relevant at all. I therefore strongly recommend that, if you want to get ahold of me, you contact me by other means:
Instant Messengers
I have accounts on all major instant messenger networks, although not all of them are always logged in.
- AIM:
chucker23n— almost always available - Gtalk:
chucker23n (get rid of this part) (at) gmail (dot) com— almost always available - ICQ:
65559159— sometimes available; modern ICQ clients support talking to AIM users, so you should use my AIM account instead - Jabber:
chucker23n (get rid of this part) (at) jabber (dot) org— rarely available; I don’t really have any contacts on this - MSN Messenger:
chucker13 (get rid of this part) (at) hotmail (dot) com— almost always available - Yahoo! Messenger:
chucker_mail— almost always available
In addition, there are private accounts whose details I do not provide here for obvious reasons.
Skype
You can contact me through Skype at chucker23n, either through text, or by leaving me a voice mail, since I’m usually not fast enough to pick up calls.
Alurio
If you’re lucky and part of the Alurio beta test, you can contact me through my chucker account on alurio.org — provided I’m not busy working on it. See you there!
Finally if you still want to e-mail me, use chucker (get rid of this part) (at) mystfans (dot) com, or, if you have any other e-mail I provided you with, chances are it will also work.
