This was intended as a proof of concept on just how quickly you can develop a game from scratch using popular Javascript libraries (look ma, no Flash), but it also happens to be way too much fun.

I garnered more interest with my Modern D’ni proposal than I thought I would. It’s been discussed over at the D’ni Linguistic Fellowship with, again, more enthusiasm than I had expected.
Now comes the hard part of actually going through with it.

Take Notorious B.I.G.’s “One more chance (remix)”, then “translate” it to “standard English”.

One of the new features in Leopard’s iChat (and certainly a rather irrelevant one at that) is to add a Photo Booth-like effect or apply a different background by pretending there’s a chroma key.
Among the effects this was demo’d with was a “Star Wars hologram” one; a blue, translucent picture of you on top of the background. For whatever strange reason, Apple decided to quietly pull this particular effect (among several other not-so-irrelevant features) from the final release build, but as the effects are simply Quartz Compositions, someone has succeeded in creating and using his own variant. While there appear to be some previewing glitches, the result automatically shows up right on the other end.
Which makes me wonder: is it that these compositions get sent across the ‘net whenever an effect is chosen, alongside the unaltered video stream, or is the rendered result of the effect sent as video? The former would be neat; the latter simple.
