My MacBook Pro is, at long last, ordered, including a heavily-rebated printer. I would have preferred a Canon, but they’re way too expensive here in Germany, and a HP DeskJet 5940 should do the job just fine for me.
I can’t wait.
Now I just need to get out of the habit of eating at my desk (and then using the greasy fingers on the keyboard), because I sure don’t want to destroy the keyboard!

So, I hope you realize that now you need to do obligatory status upgrades, including screenshots of your Order Status page at store.apple.com.

Fair enough.

Okay, now you and moi are moving into the “unhealthy obsession” category….

Hardly, Bert. It would be downright pathologically abnormal not to document our purchases and not to perform the unwrap ritual.
Of course, being the Windows peon you are… you just wouldn’t understand!

On an unrelated note… why is your Apple Store in English? o_0
Comment on April 26th, 2006 at 8:10 pm
For the same reason the keyboard I ordered is in English. For the same reason my OS language is set to English. For the same reason the primary spoken language of my girlfriend is English. For the same reason my preferred language has been English for years. For the same reason…
…I could go on and on, but really, it should be quite obvious.

Just shipped. (early!)

No, it’s not obvious… I thought you ordered from Apple Store Deutschland… I wasn’t aware you could choose to set the language of a foreign store.apple.com… o_0

Well, pathetically enough, you can’t with most online sites.
In Apple’s case, I simply go to
store.apple.com, without picking a country. The order status page there is English.Comment on April 28th, 2006 at 9:06 am
I had no idea you could order for German delivery from an English Apple Store site!
Comment on April 28th, 2006 at 10:40 am
Well, you can’t. (That I know of.)
But it appears the order IDs are internationally unique, so you can check order status internationally.

So… You ordered on the German Apple store, in German… but you’re able to check the status on an English page. Did I finally get it?
Comment on April 28th, 2006 at 2:52 pm
Yep, you got it. I ordered from Apple Store Germany, with customizations for the University of Bremen (higher discounts than the general edu discount). Actually, technically (if I wanna get really pedantic, which at times like these, I might as well
), my brother did; I merely called him on the phone with the necessary info. Subsequently, I went to store.apple.com, clicked Order Status, and was as such sent to the English page. I could probably as well go to the German store again and check the status there and would, as such, get it in German, but I am not going to bother.

Really, really obsessive….
Comment on April 28th, 2006 at 8:29 pm
You see, some people obsess over mediocre music and incorrect English; others obsess over excellent products and, uh, beautiful women.
Comment on April 28th, 2006 at 9:10 pm
Are you saying us boys are not beautiful?
Comment on April 28th, 2006 at 10:28 pm
Yes, moi, that is what he is saying.
